Answer
On Windows 11, Microsoft provides an option to roll back to the previous version within a period of 10 days after the update. After the time limit is up, this option will no longer be available. To restore the original Windows version, MSI recommends a clean installation of Windows 10 or Windows 11, or use the system backup file created from MSI software (MSI Center/MSI Center Pro/MSI Dragon Center/MSI Creator Center) to restore the system back to the factory settings.
*Note: The backup function supports MSI Notebooks pre-installed with Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system only.
Return to the previous version or build with the Recovery option
1. Click on Start and select Settings.
2. Click on Windows Update, then select Advanced options.
3. Scroll down and select Recovery.
4. Click on Go back.
5. Select one of the reasons for going back, then click Next.
6. Click No, thanks.
7. Follow the remaining instructions, then click Go back to earlier build.
Restore the system back to the factory settings
*Note: The backup function supports MSI Notebooks pre-installed with Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system only. If the original system has been deleted or modified before creating the system backup file, there are high chances that the restore might fail to work and require a clean installation of Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Notebooks bundled with MSI Center/MSI Dragon Center/MSI Creator Center, follow the instructions in Section III to restore the system back to the factory settings by using the recovery/backup file that has been created before the update.
- Notebooks that bundled with MSI Center Pro, follow the instructions (tutorial) to restore the system by using the recovery disk.
- Perform the F3 system recovery to restore the system back to the factory settings.
Windows 10 or Windows 11 Clean Installation
