What is tile

MSI Tile is finding solution that uses Bluetooth technology to allow users to easily keep track of their MSI laptops.
MSI Tile is pre-installed on select laptop's. Once activated in the Tile Windows app, you can use all your favorite Tile features on the Tile Mobile app to track your laptop, such as: Ringing your laptop, Viewing the last known location and Enlisting the secure help of the Tile Network can aid in your search.

Setup My Tile

To turn on the Tile function, launch MSI Center Pro, set Tile to on, and restart laptop. Launch the Tile app on your laptop, create an account and sign in to get started.

Follow the steps below to activate your device:
Start the activation process within the Tile Windows app. Your device will sync with Tile via Bluetooth.
Follow the prompts and wait until you see a message that your Tile is activated.
Download the Tile mobile app, sign in, and ring your nearby device.

The following settings are required to be enabled in order for Tile to perform optimally.

  • Internet Connection including notifications and maps
  • Bluetooth set to On
  • Location settings set to On

Find Your Laptop Nearby

The fastest way to find your MSI laptop when it's nearby is to ring it. In the Tile mobile app, tap “Find” and listen for your laptop's tune.
Note: If you do not see the “Find” button, you are not in range of your laptop.
To make your laptop stop ringing, tap on the “Done” button in the mobile app.

Find Your Laptop Far Away

If your MSI laptop is out of range and not communicating with your mobile device, use the mobile app to view your laptop's last known location or enlist the secure and anonymous help of the Tile Network can aid in your search.

FAQ's

Can I find my laptop if it is off?

No one ever plans on losing their laptop. If you do, Tile will be ready! As long as your laptop battery has power, you can find your laptop if you select “Power off” and if it is in the (S5) - Power off state.

How long does Tile finding last on my laptop?

Location updates are available for up to 14 days of off/idle laptop time, after which the unit will enter a Factory Ship Mode and discontinue power supply until the laptop turns back on. Please keep in mind this is completely dependent on the battery level of your laptop.

How do I find my laptop if it's outside of Bluetooth range?

If you are trying to find your laptop with the Tile mobile app, but the “Find” button isn't visibly, this means that your laptop is not within Bluetooth range. Instead, you will see your laptop's “last known location”. Tile’s last place seen feature records the last known location that your laptop and the Tile app connected. (Learn More)

View your laptop’s location on a map:

  • In the Tile mobile app, Tap on your laptop to locate it.
  • Scroll down and tap “Location History” to see your laptop's last known approximate location.
  • Tap the Bubble to see the address.
  • Tap the arrow at the top right corner of your screen to get directions to the location.
  • Once at the location, check if your laptop is in range to ring it.
  • Note: Check your permissions to ensure you have the proper settings enabled.

How do I find my laptop using the Tile Network?

If you misplace your laptop, you can enlist the secure and anonymous help of the Tile Network. Simply tap “Notifiy when found” in the mobile app and you will be notified when your Tile's location is anonymously updated by any Tile app user or Tile Network Extender. Tile has partnered with Industry Leaders and their devices to help locate Tiles. (Learn More)

Activating the Tile Network:

  • Press “Notify when found”
  • Once a Tile app user or Network extender comes into range of your laptop, you will receive a secure notification of its most up-to-date location.
