[How To] Run Virtual Machines with Intel Virtualized VT-x/EPT

Answer
MSI Notebook have set all virtualization services enabled by default, however, some services might be modified or occupied by Windows or other application.
VMX, EPT, URG, and VBS are required to run efficiently for virtual machines, to check if the status of these features, two methods are possible.
Method A: Run the application "Coreinfo"
- Download Coreinfo and save to the designated location.
- Extract the folder.
- Run Command Prompt with admin rights.
- Copy the location of the Coreinfo64.exe in File Explorer.
- In Command Prompt, enter the following command and press Enter.
Command: “cd [location of file folder copied in Step 4]”
- Type “Coreinfo64.exe -v” and press Enter.
- Click on Agree if prompted.
- The following information on virtualization-related features will be shown.
Note: An asterisk (*) will be shown if the feature is running on the system, or a hyphen (-) if otherwise.
Method B. Launch Windows System Info
- In Windows Search Bar, type “msinfo” and select System Information.
- Scroll to the bottom and check the following information:
- Virtualization-based security > Running
- Hypervisor > A hypervisor has been detected
VMware Workstation will be used as an example for complete setup guidance.
The following message may appear when the required features are not accessible by the program.
To ensure that the features required for virtual machines can be accessed, refer to the steps below.
1. Disable Core isolation.
a. In Windows Search bar, type “core isolation” and open the settings.
b. Click to turn OFF Memory Integrity.
2. Uncheck Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform.
a. In Windows Search Bar, type “features”.
b. Uncheck the items Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform.
