Answer

For the MSI laptops bundled with Battery Master* in Dragon Center or Creator Center, when plugging in the AC adaptor for charging, the battery could be charged but would be stuck at a certain percentage and was unable to be fully charged.

If you have encountered such a situation, please follow the below steps to confirm:

1.  Make sure that the latest EC firmware released on MSI website is updated.

*After confirmed or updated the EC firmware, be sure to perform the EC reset (Refer to KB_2394 for the step-by-step guide)

2.  Fully uninstall and delete the configuration file of the Dragon Center / Creator Center (Refer to KB_2425), and reinstall the latest version afterward.

*For Dragon Center, please install v2.5.1904.1201 or newer; for Creator Center, please install v1.0.1904.1201 or newer.

*Battery Master is a feature in MSI Dragon Center/Creator Center which provides three options of battery charging level and can be adjusted based on different preference. (Attachment shows the Battery Master setup page)

1. Best for Mobility: Battery charging starts when the battery capacity is below 90%, and charged till the battery is fully charged at 100%.

2. Balanced: Battery charging starts when the battery capacity is below 70%, and stops when the battery capacity is charged at 80%.

3. Best for Battery: Battery charging starts when the capacity is below 50%, and stops when the battery capacity is charged at 60%.
