Compal Electronics takes control of optical drive maker Accesstek
Compal Electronics and its subsidiaries have bought a majority stake in Taiwan-based optical storage drive maker Accesstek from Micro-Star International (MSI) for NT$336 million, an official at the world's second-largest notebook maker confirmed.
MSI, a Taiwanese motherboard maker, also confirmed the deal in a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) late Wednesday.
The deal, for 15 million shares, gives Compal an over 50% shareholding in Accesstek while reducing MSI's stake from 57.74% to below 10%.
