Taipei, Taiwan – December 14, 2023 – MSI, a leading global server provider, introduces its latest server platforms powered by 5th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. These platforms showcase remarkable performance per watt improvements across the most demanding workloads, including AI, databases, networking, storage, and HPC.
"Enterprises and organizations face the challenge of reducing their capital and operating expenses, and new technologies like 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors continue to drive changes in the business landscape," said Danny Hsu, General Manager of Enterprise Platform Solutions. "The enhancements in MSI's server platforms empower our customers to meet their requirements while effectively managing increasing workload demands."
"5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors are designed to accelerate the greatest range of workloads. By optimizing the use of CPU core resources, built-in accelerators deliver more efficient utilization and power efficiency advantages, helping businesses achieve their performance and sustainability goals," said Suzi Jewett, General Manager of 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, at Intel.
MSI's cloud and storage platforms are optimized to improve performance and maximize ROI by leveraging the capabilities of 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This integration results in the delivery of features characterized by low latency and improved application performance.
The S2205 series model is a 2U dual-socket platform, featuring support for 32 DDR5 RDIMM slots and accommodating up to seven PCIe 5.0 expansion slots. These include three double-wide slots designed for high-performance GPU cards. The S2205 offers various storage configurations, ranging from 24 front 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe hot-swap drive bays to twelve 3.5-inch/2.5-inch NVMe/SATA hybrid hot-swap drive bays.
In contrast, the S1205 is a compact 1U platform that supports dual-socket processors and offers 32 DDR5 RDIMM slots, three PCIe 5.0 slots, and two NVMe M.2 ports. Additionally, it can house up to twelve 2.5-inch NVMe or SATA drive bays, making it an ideal choice for various storage needs. Both server series share a common design approach, adopting the L-shape form factor to seamlessly integrate the OCP3.0 NIC module. This design choice enhances networking capabilities.
MSI server platforms, leveraging the latest 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, maintain socket compatibility with existing 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors through a BIOS update. This convenient feature enables users to drive their businesses forward swiftly with drop-in compatibility and extended availability.
