Microphone, also known by the scientific name “transducer” comes from the English translation of transmitter. It is a device that converts sound into an electrical signal. Common classifications are dynamic, condenser, electret and recently emerging micro-silicon microphone types.

Microphone audio jack location
Red microphone mark as illustrated in front and rear view of desktop computer is the microphone audio jack.
Check microphone sound card driver
Right click on [Start] → Click on [Device Manager].
Click on [Audio inputs and outputs].
If there is an error, right click on [Microphone] → select [Uninstall device] to remove existing microphone sound card driver.
Sound card driver download and installation
Visit MSI official website → input desktop model → hit [Enter].
Click on [Download].
Click on [Driver] → select your operating system.
Select [audio driver] → hit [download].
Enter [Realtek HD Universal Drivers] folder → select [Realtek Audio Drivers] folder → double click on [Setup].
Select [Next].
Please wait while the driver is installing.
Click on [Finish] to restart your computer to complete installation.
Turn on the microphone
Click on [Start] → select [Settings].
Click on [Privacy].
Select [Microphone] from the left pane, make sure [Allow apps to use voice activation] and [Choose which apps can use voice activation] are toggled to [On] to enable access of microphone in all programs.
Microphone Configuration
Right click on [audio icon] at task bar → select [Open volume mixer].
Click on the [System Sounds icon].
Select [Recording] → right click on [Stereo Mix] → [Disable].
Right click on [Microphone] → select [Properties].
Click on [Levels], toggle the arrow on [Microphone] to far right and Microphone Boost] to the middle, then select [OK].
Check microphone device
Return to the [Recording] tab to test microphone, if the volume bars go up and down, then microphone is now ready for audio input.
