3.5 inch HDD.
2.5 inch HDD. [mechanical Hard Disk (HDD) and solid-state disk (SSD)].

3.5 and 2.5 inch HDD.

Connection mode：SATA

Advantage：
Low price, low power consumption, large storage capacity, low noise, damaged data can be recovered.

Others：
System starts slowly, read/write speed is slowly and has less ability for shock resistance.

2.5 inch SSD.

Connection mode：SATA

Advantage：
Low energy consumption, fast read-write speed, no noise, low energy consumption and quick system start.

Demerits：
The damage data can’t be recovered and the storage is small.

Suggestion for upgrading the HDD

The quantity of HDD port on the motherboard.

HDD type that the sicase.

To buy the hard disk types verified by MSI.

Back up the original hard disk file to avoid file loss after the upgrade. If it is the system disk, reinstall the system.

How to check the HDD specifications?

Enter MSI Official WebSite to inquire the model.
Click search icon.

Type market name and press [enter] key (NIGHTBLADE MI3 8TH as the example).

Click [CONFIGURATIONS] to check [Storage] info.

How to check HDD Report.

Enter MSI official web → Click [Magnifier] icon → Input the model (NIGHTBLADE MI3 8TH as the example) → Select [ASSISTANCE] → Select [Recommend] → Check [HDD Report].

Notice items of installing HDD.

Install HDD when the computer powers off, and mustn’t install or remove HDD when the computer is running.

Both power cable and signal cable are connected to HDD.

Use screws to fix the HDD to the HDD location in case. Don’t optionally lay the HDD in the case.
