When network latency occurs while gaming on laptop, please check external internet connection first, reinstall network adapter drivers, and close or disable all conflicting software as possible. You may also consult with the game vendor’s customer service for solutions.
Check external network connection status
- Turn off the network router and try to reconnect after 10 seconds
- Check to see if network cable and router are working properly. You may cross-test with a different network cable, router, or computer.
- Perform a speed test with professional software. Normal speed test results shall indicate functional hardware. Please examine the laptop applications for potential compatibility issues.
Update network adapter drivers
Please confirm your laptop model before visiting MSI Website to download the drivers.
How to verify laptop model name: refer to product label on keyboard lower right corner (e.g. GS63VR 7RF)
Driver download & installation procedure:
2-1 Upon entering MSI Website, please click on search box at top right and input laptop model name, then press enter to find corresponding unit.
2-2 Click on Download
2-3 Please choose the appropriate operating system with [Select] drop down menu.
2-4 Find the [LAN & Wireless LAN] drivers and click [download].
2-5 Extract the compressed folder and locate [setup.exe] installation file, please double click to run, then hit [Next] until to complete installation.
Close other software
Before starting a game, please close the unnecessary applications as they might occupy the network bandwidth, cause incompatibility issues which could all lead to network latency problem.
