If your laptop is experiencing slow system performance issues, please refer to the following steps for troubleshooting.
- Remove external devices
- Run Windows Update
- Update BIOS and drivers
- Limit background applications
- Scan for viruses and malware
- Execute system diagnostics
- System Restore
Remove external devices
Please first try to remove the external devices connected to the notebook computer, such as external hard drives, memory cards, optical drives and other devices, and confirm whether the problem is solved.
Run Windows Update
Please refer to [Notebook] How to Update the Windows Operating System? to ensure that your operating system is up to date.
Update BIOS and drivers
BIOS and driver updates typically include bug fixes and performance optimizations. Please refer to [Notebook] How to update BIOS? and [Notebook] How to update the driver? to ensure that both your BIOS and drivers are up to date.
Limit background applications
Open Task Manager, and close any unnecessary background applications, especially those continuously running and consuming resources.
Scan for viruses and malware
Malicious software may disguise itself as Windows applications running in the background, consuming computer resources. If your computer has third-party antivirus software installed, we recommend performing a full scan of all drives.
If you don't have third-party antivirus software installed, you can use the Microsoft Defender scanning tool.
1. Search for "Virus & threat protection" in Windows and click "Open."
2. Click on "Scan options."
3. Select "Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan)" and click "Scan now."
The system will prompt you to log out of Windows. After logging out, your computer will need to reboot. Microsoft Defender Antivirus offline version will load in the recovery environment and perform a quick scan of your computer. After the scan is complete, the computer will automatically restart.
Note: Viruses and malware come in various forms, and scanning tools cannot guarantee the removal of all types. It's recommended to regularly update your Windows operating system to ensure that Microsoft Defender can recognize the latest malicious software and viruses.
Execute system diagnostics
Open MSI Center, click "Features," and select "System Diagnosis."
On the system diagnosis page, you can perform disk cleaning and memory release and check the hard disk's health status.
Disk cleaning and memory release can clear unnecessary temporary files, making Windows operation smoother.
System Restore
If the problem persists, please refer to [Notebook] How to restore the default factory system through F3 Recovery? to restore the system to its factory state.
If you have tried the above troubleshooting methods and still cannot resolve the issue, please reach out to the MSI customer service center for further assistance.
