How to check storage specification?
If your MSI laptop needs to upgrade HDD and SSD, but you don’t know the storage device information, please learn the "storage device information" first. If you already know the storage device information, MSI recommends referring to the following method to “Check HDD and SSD support specifications" before purchasing.
Storage device information：
Size: The HDD of the notebook is usually 2.5 inches, the SSD have 2.5 inches, mSATA and M.2 SSD is divided into various sizes, such as 2242, 2260, 2280, etc. Usually MSI notebooks support 2.5-inch SATA HDD , mSATA SSD, M.2 Type 2280 SSD according to different models.
Slots and cassettes: M.2 SSD have three types of cassettes, B Key, M Key and B+M Key.
B key slot for ‘B’Key card (also known as Socket 2) (SATA)
M key slot in ‘M’Key card (also known as Socket 3) (PCIe x 4)
B+M Key cassettes are available for both cassette slots
Check HDD and SSD support specifications
1. Please confirm the MSI notebook model: There will be an organic information sticker on the lower left of the machine keyboard. The sticker indicates the specific model of the machine (GS63VR 7RF is taken as an example)
2. Please log in to MSI official website, enter "GS63VR 7R" in the index field at the top right corner of the website, and press the Enter key to search.
3. Click “Specifications".
4. Check the "HDD CAPACITY" and "HDD INTERFACE" field information
