The chip generates the heat when operating. The heat transfers from the pipes to the heat spreaders. The fan drives away this heat by drawing in cool air from the outside, to bring the heat from the heat spreader out of the chassis. Designing a good thermal solution that can encompass the heat dissipation requirements of key components such as the CPU, GPU, and VRMs is not a trivial matter.
